R. wardii Evergreen. 1.5 to 4 m high or higher. Ovate, round to oblong leaf, glandular punctate back. Umbel or racemose umbel, 5¡«14 flowers; broad cup-shaped or bowl-shaped corolla, yellow, June to July. Cold hygrophiles, heliophiles. Sinoendemic. Southeast Tibet. 3700 to 4500 m, fir forest or alpine thicket. Sichuan, northwest Yunnan. The buds are red in sunlight.
