S. conica Perennial. 20 to 45 cm high. Oblong leaf blades; the upper bracteoid, ovate, reddish purple, embracing several capitula. Flowering: aug to Sept. Cold hygrophiles, heliophiles, a hit tolerance to poorness. Himalayan endemic. Middle to southeast Tibet, 4600 to 5300m, alpine grassland or scree. Sikkim, Bhutan.
